History

In 1980, in the aftermath of another unexpected insurance market cycle, a group of Ohio based group of Ohio based insurance professionals placing Excess & Surplus Lines and Specialty insurance organized as the Ohio Specialty Surplus Lines Association.

Under the Presidency of Tom Devore, and enjoying the support of leading Managing General Agents and E&S Brokers from across Ohio, the group re-organized as the Ohio Association of Professional Specialty Lines Offices.

The Purpose was and remains to represent interests of specialty insurance market practitioners, to promote professionalism amongst Members and throughout the Ohio insurance market.

Today, OAPSLO continues as the sole representative for wholesale insurance intermediaries operating from Offices in Ohio. With Associate Members from out of State, the insurance company community, risk management professionals, retail insurance agencies, premium finance specialists, insurance inspection and other related insurance services, OAPSLO provides a forum for addressing the unique and specialist issues affecting our businesses.

At its core, OAPSLO advocates and delivers the best of professional insurance development, resources and knowledge for its Members, and provides support for a the independent insurance agency system upon which our membership relies.
